Given the attention of late to the need of driver education and training not just fat cops siting in air conditioned cars, that eat donuts while supervising a speed camera, thought it opportune to identify the list of best to worst drivers by state:

Given I lived in most states my votes are:

Best to worst:

1. NSW
2. QLD
3. Tas
4. NT
5. WA
6. Vic (they are easily the worst and reflected in the toll)

But OH MY GOD! If we are the best I'm probably going to be too bloody scared to drive interstate.

My experience a few years ago driving from Gold Coast to Brisbane was when I was cruising along doing 80km/h I was getting passed by heaps of people, and then once past me they would slow down and I would pass them. This leapfrogging seemed to continue with lots of different cars, not just one or two, very strange IMO.

Yes, I went on a Holiday to the Gold Coast and rented a car and drove all over the place and the Brisbane and the one thing that really got to me was how erractic and unpredictable the drivers up there were.

You never really knew what they were going to do and I saw many near accidents on the way to Brisbane and the BDO.

Townsville is filled with out of towners, so may not be a good place for a comparison. :s6:

From previously travelling and living up North, I found that countrified people to be by far the worst drivers. They just have no idea.

Btw, where is the Northern Territory? Isn't that in Asia? :s5

I will agree that NSW drivers are userally best and victorians are pretty bad..

When I see a vic plate in the city I prepair myself for laughter as he feaks out being squished between two trucks in sydneys narrow lanes..

Queenslanders can be pretty bad in the city too, userally on country roads they seem okay..

I don't think Ive seen NT plates on a road worthy car..

Sydneys bad roads require you to gain extra skill just to survive.

well, after my trip to NSW especially sydney I will say that while they aren't as aggro.. they are by far worse drivers thatn Vic.. can't keep in lanes.. no indicators.. doing all sorts of cr@p while driving except paying attention to the road .. going too fast ..going to slow .
The Vics hold the prize for sheer aggressiveness ....
