I just got my holiday pay today and I'm happy as Larry !
All this happyness brought to the thought of shouting myself a nice game-computer. :)
What I'd like to know from you guys is, what do you think is a better buy an Xbox or a PS2 ?? And please motivate your answer.
I'm kinda biased towards PS2, because I own a PS1 and I love playing Gran Turismo and Resident Evil and undoubtedly they will be even better on the PS2.
Thanx in advance !
Paul

I have the same dilemma myself. I much prefer the Xbox, better graphics, no need for a memory card and more future proof.
But think I will go for the PS2 purely because half my family have PS2's and we can swap games around.
Only minus for the Xbox is you can't get GTAIII Vice City. If your a fan of the Driver series, D3 will be released in a few months on both consoles.
Out of interest, Electronics Boutique are doing trades on PS1's, ps1 +10 games + $249 will get you the PS2 pack or the Xbox massive pack.
Kmart are selling PS2's + 1 Platinum game for $324, EB will match.

Mate I had the same problem. I had a PS1 with GT and GT2 plus TOCA. PS1 has now gone to the kids.
I talked to the guys at EB. They showed me both machines and we talked about future games on XBOX. I was sold because of the broadband cable connection, 8 gig HD, the graphics are much better, plus the 5.1 sound.
I have several games including F1 2002, Munchers world, Halo ( it kicks arse) and I have just brought Sega GT2002 ( better than Gran Tourismo)
Now I know there are more games on PS2, but XBOX are releasing heaps of game now and more in the future. V8 supercars will be out in the new year as well.
As Kieron said EB also do a trade of 10 PS games on the XBOX as well.
Maybe go and play both machines, talk to the guys about up coming releases and then make a choice. I think PS3 might be released sometimes next year as well.
One of my mates got an Xbox and he reckons the graphics and sound are sublime and apparently the games load up heaps faster than the PS2. He also had his chip flashed so he could replace the 8GB HDD with a 80GB HDD. Now he just hires games from the videostore and copies them onto his harddrive, I know it's illegal but it sure as hell saves him a lot of money. :)
PS : Will Resident Evil be released on Xbox ??

Ive had a Ps2 for over a year now.... at the time there was nothing else decent available so I bought it.
If I was buying today I'd probably get the XBOX although it seems that the game HALO is the only thing keeping it alive.
As far as features go... a broadband modem is also coming for ps2, as well as a hard drive.
And i'm pretty sure ps2 has 5.1 also.
If you want to play Resident Evil you better buy the GameCube... apparently its awesome.
Of course with the prices as they are today you could probably afford all 3 consoles with games for little more than what 1 of them wouldve cost you 2 years ago.
Yeah, I went out and bought the Xbox yesterday.
It was a good deal, i got the Massive Pack for just over 400.
It comes with Halo, Sega GT and sum skateboard game plus a remote.
I'm very impressed with the graphics and sound and i reckon it's awesome that I've got a DVD player now as well :).
Thanx all for your advice, take it easy and have a good christmas !!
