XC Cobra + 460 = divorce?

Guys,

Playing with the concept to do this as a way of not being forced to watch McLeods daughters with the missus of an evening.

Have to strike while the iron is hot as I have just bought her dream Dark Blue 02' VRX Magna - not a bad car I must say for day to day stuff.

Is this conversion a legal possibility? Are their conversion kits available? What should I look out for in that sexy coupe body? Me thinks that it's not that hard - The idea of dusting off anything HSV throws at me as well as that timeless coupe shape with those huge stripes and 12 second passes distracts me.....It has to be done...the bug is itching slowly.

Disagree? ah well thats life........

yes
yes
rust
find a pre pollution XA-XB and change it to an XC and you will have no pollution worries and you wont be butchering an original Cobra either!
There have been some posts in the Big Block forums..worth a browse if you are seriously thinking about it.

Go for a pre '76 coupe it's so much easier if you don't have to worry about emmissions stuff.

Re: XC Cobra + 460 = divorce?

Thanks for the replies guys.

XA Coupe - I was thinking a fuel injected late 460 block to overcome emissions - Suburban Imports here in syd seem to get a few - the idea of retrofitting a current V8 efi to an older body isn't so bad - iiv'e done it on the 'S' - the only issue would be getting the efi intake to work from a truck application to a car - is there much scope like their is for the 5.0 ?

If its too hard i'll go carby and pre 76 - just a little harder to find a good body I guess.

Where are the kits for this conversion available? Any pointers / tips for this conversion?

Where do these bodies rust? What should I look for when I go hunting?

Can I use a 6 cyl body as a base?

Disagree? ah well thats life........

I think that the Castlemaine Rod Shop does a conversion for 460 into XA-XC. Have a look on their website.

Yep - no thanks, can't see the benefit as rumours suggest gas won't be too much cheaper than the old benzino....

Re: XC Cobra + 460 = divorce?

There are 2 other benefits though:
- easier to register due to less emissions complications if you have an XC
- you can run higher compression, so the exhaust note would sound better

Also at the rate a 460 would get through juice the cost difference of gas would make more of a difference than most cars.
