Just wanted to know if any one has seen many done up wagons around that age? Got any pictures or anything to give me an idea of what sort of looks are possible with these? I reckon the bog stock ones are pretty ugle but i am interested in seeing if they can be made to look tough and what people do with them. Or a link to a site with some on it or somethink would be good.
Here's a pic of my old XE 'S' pack wagon.
This pic is about 10 years old.
After this was taken, a new 351 was fitted, (no, the 302 had overheating problems, it didn't die from the skid!!!);
the stripes were removed and the bottom from the bump strips down was painted in charcoal black.
XE Fairmont Ghia bonnet and headlights etc were fitted.
A ZH Fairlane steel electric sunroof was fitted, along with FC LTD electric seats, FC LTD dash, electric windows, central locking and electric mirrors.
I have other pics here but my scanner is cactus.
I can post more later if needed..
It was quite a good car, I went everywhere in it, and my go-kart
used to fit in the back with ease.
Sold it to buy an ED XR6, just after I'd spent a fair quid on
a new 600 Holley, and a huge radiator to keep it cool.
Hope you like it!
Ed :)

Only a few were ever built, however EF XR6 wagon's would have to be one of the best looking wagons Ford ever built. It wouldn't be hard to convert a stock EL wagon to XR front. Probably more difficult to find the panels if not looking at using new ones.
Originally posted by Hoon I've seen an old XE wagon with a EL front on it. Freaked me out! Apparently it's a very easy conversion, and it looks the goods.
heres one
you`d have to buy XH XR6 Ute front guards, bonnet, front bar and headlight assemblies
there is an old thread somewhere about this car somewhere, as im pretty sure thats where i got this pic from
Nice pic Hypo, though I had read somewhere; Street Machine, I think that the conversion from XD-XF to XH / EL XR front was a little bit more than a straight swap.
They had an XD ute featured a while back, and when you looked at the pic's of under the bonnet, you could see where there had been mod's made to the inner guard to bolt the new ones on.
Also, I'm quite sure the radiator support panel had to be changed to the XH version, as the XD - XF type sits too high to be able to close the bonnet.
Something that would be a bonus with this conversion, would be to change the earlier steering box over to the later rack and pinion type. A reduced turning circle, and better steering feel with feedback to the driver would be great!!
I have also read in a Mustang magazine from the states that there is a kit available for just such a conversion. If they can do it for Mustangs, then I believe it wouldn't be any extra work to convert our Aussie Fords!!

not sure i like the el front end on the wagon. might look better in a decent colour. what i reckon looks heaps better is the ed xr lights that you can get to fit xf's without changing guards and bonnet. web site is www.twinlight.com.au
usual stuff...lowered, decent colour, wheels no bigger than 16" because i reckon any bigger dosn't suit the wheel arch radius e.g. simmons 16x8 v5's.
you could try a esp look alike e.g. silver over black with gold simmons or roh chicanes...now that would look cool.
