I reckon Ford need a kick ass XR add. If you guys over in Oz get the Mitsi "get what you give" add, I think it's really targeted towards a younger audience. Ford needs an add that's going to make people want to go out and buy a hot XR8 because it sounds bloddy awesome, looks stunning, goes like a rocket and handles like nothing else.
Kelli has a mpeg of Laminge's (I believe?) XR8. Download this from her site and see what I reckon an XR add should include.
We need real, genuine, howling V8 noise (it's what all the journalists rave about), so why not stick an XR8 at the end of a runway, wind it out to warp speed, throw out the anchors, spin it around, wind though a slalom and voila! you just sold a few thousand of the beauties. All we need is some real horny V8 noise and some performance to show the nation what an awesome car the XR is.
...which is all well and good, but a number of consumer groups are becoming more publicly outspoken about the way advertisements are encouraging bad driving. For example:
* The XR8 Ute on a dry Salt Lake racing one of the land-speed-record cars with the comment 'Must be stuck in 3rd'
* Holden Ute doing Donuts to stir up a rain storm in a Desert.
* Toyota Corolla add with 3 cars doing handbrake slides and racing each other.
Geoff Polites has already publicly commented that he feels that there will be a big reaction soon if that type of advertising doesn't stop.
Have to say the latest Mitsu add is pretty good, not to tardy and definitly aimed at young audience.
But for an XR definitly more genuine V8 sounds.

Howabout showing the XR8 going through it's paces at an advanced driving course or even at the dragstrip, therefore condoning safe driving / the "right time and place" cr@p? But then again, the bloody hippies don't like that salt lake ad :crazy1: did they?
How does the Monaro ad get away with whatever they are doing?? they are in race conditions - sure its supposed to be a computer game.. so if its shown in a controlled enviroment like a track is that ok??
F*ck what the complainers say. What they don't print is that these people complain about everything, from house hold mains voltage being too high, to the government spying on thier thoughts so they wrap their head in aluminium foil.
They complain that Ray martin isn't on 24/7 and that Stan isn't on beauty and the beast any more and that Alan Jones isn't on every AM channel and that FM radio is going to destroy talkback.. And that communists put floruide in our water to control minds.
The people who complain don't buy the cars, so stuff them. If someone said "I bought a Phase 2 in my younger years and 5 new falcons scince then but what you are doing is sick and irrisponcible" then fair enough..
I say show us tyres fryin', pistons a movin', fossilised dead dinosaurs being converted into fun, or atleast a interesting side of driving.. Cornering, sliding, the pleasure of driving. Put it to a nice sound track and slick edit it together.
People taste in cars is a very personal one. It can reveal alot about a person..
You want people to identify with your brand and your product. BMW did some ripper adds BMW Films, short movies.. They definately had a target audience worked out.
The XR adds I would envisage would be something like that, more class than just burn outs in a ute. But still in touch with its roots.
