Ford Performance Vehicles to replace Tickford
Forget Tickford, the next generation of hot Falcons, including the much talked about return of the GT, look set to wear a Ford Performance Vehicles badge. CarPoint has received information that Tickford's product development department has registered the internet addresses www.FordPerformanceVehicles.com.au and www.FPV.com.au.

Ford Australia spokesperson Louise Teesdale would not confirm Ford Performance Vehicles, saying that Ford has registered a number of internet addresses "on a maybe, one day basis". When asked if there's any future for Ford Performance Vehicles, Teesdale replied "certainly not this week".

Speculation has been rife about the future of Tickford badges on fast Falcons since British company Prodrive bought Tickford Vehicle Engineering. Prodrive has a heavy involvement in world motorsport, including World Rally, and it was suggested Falcons would wear the Prodrive badge. In light of this new information, it looks like an FPV badge will be the flavour of choice. Look out HSV Commodore, here comes the FPV Falcon.

I doubt if this happens the XR's will be getting the badges....

once FPV is associated with GT/GTHO or Turboed XRs... there wont be a problem, at all =)

XR's will not be "Tickford" (FPV) vehicles.

I've heard that other than options like sunroofs etc the XR's have been moved completely in house. That is, they are no longer "Tickford" vehicles as such. Engines, wheels, bodykits etc will all be done at Ford.

FPV must therefore be the build and sales company for the "worked" cars, highly modified V8's, I don't know about Turbos, but given prodrives expertise with turbo technology / sequential gearboxes etc..... could DEFINITELY be happy times ahead!!!

Only speculating here...but this sure would be nice!!!

Prodrive modified:
TURBOCHARGED DOHC 32 Valve 5.4 litre
6 speed sequential gearbox

Any takers??
