I have just purchased an immaculate xh xr6 ute manual which is actually very nice to drive. I'm thinking about taking it for a spin around willowbank just for a bit of sideways action and heaps of fun.
So my question is do the XR6 falcons come with the same speed 180km/h limiter that the normal falcons have?
Also has anyone else taken their ute to the track? How nervous is the back end on high speed sweepers?
Oh and is there a Ford or Tickford club in Brisbane?
Firstly congrates on your purchase.
As a guide for XR6's if it's a sedan manual then it won't have a limiter. Not too sure about the utes.
In regards to handling, what i know in falcons is if they've covered 80-100k with the shocks, they tend to get abit soft hence the sharpness of the handling degrades.

The limiter may not be a problem if I can only get under 180 on the back straight.
My car has done 110,000km and yeah the suspension feels a tad soogy but I wonder if the high profile 15in alloys have as much to do with that? Looks like new shocks and 17's are in order.
Congrats on the purchase Eddy, there is a Tickford club in brisbane my mate is in it so if u like i can get contact details for you:), they were at the QLD 500 i was there as a guest of the club an there were a few XG utes but no XH so yours im sure would be greatly wanted,
well talk l8r

I don't know about the manuals, but I know the auto's are. I had 16" wheels & low profile tyres & koni shocks fitted to my old xhxr6 ute. I recon it handled better than my auxr8.I had 150kg toolbox behind the cab which settled the rear end. I can only vouch for on road handling as I never had it on the track
now you gotta come on some EA-D cruises, that way i wont be the only XR there...the fact you have a XH is of no conseqence, we get some EFs and stuff sometimes, and more people are ALWAYS welcome!!!!
congratulations on your purchase!!!

Ohh that's a shame. I'm picking up an 96 EL XR6 5 speed tommorow (thursday) and I was going to ask the same question. Bit dissapointing really, Not that I will ever need to go that speed, but my mate who drives a VS Calais reckons that his speed limiter cuts in at 210. It's mroe the wanks factor than anything else. It's still nice to say that "my falcon is faster than your commodore". Ahh well, I know Ive got the better allround car anyway.

squiz, Yep for some reason the sedan xr6's I've driven tend to understeer easily and the turn-in wasn't as good, but it does get it's power down better on exit than the utes. A few guys I know with utes also dump about 100kg in the tray to aid turn-in and make the oversteer more progressive.
FM, thanks I'm not about to test it on the road but 180km/h limit on the track shouldn't be too bad.
Rollin, Thanks I'm really happy with it which suprised me after owning the 200sx. As for the cruises, who do I get in contact with?
Cobra, I wasn't sold on the falcon untill I drove both it and the commodore and as far as engine response/refinement, handling, body roll control and fun factor, it sh*ts all over the commonwhore. So don't let the speed limiter worry you, just let them try to follow you through anything even remotely twisty.

Cobra an EL XR6 manual sedan should not be speed limited. Utes are tho!
