Ford will release 125 Limited Edition XR6 ST.

2002 marks a number of significant milestones, including the 10th Anniversary of XR6 along with the
introduction of "Blueprint" colour, based on the Electric Blue of the 1970's. The XR6 ST with its
powerful and sporty stance, celebrates both performance and heritage.
As you will be aware, the name "SPRINT" was initially considered for use on this SVP, however,
following further review, it became clear that the name "SPRINT" was unsuitable and we have instead
decided to call it XR6 ST.

It has these features:

Interior
! Leather Seat Trim
! Momo Steering Wheel and Gear Knob (manual and auto)
! Floor Mats with XR logo

Exerior
! "Blueprint" exterior colour, plus 3 other standard colours
! 5 x 18" Azzuro Alloy Wheels
! Ford Racing Bodykit
! 'ST' Decals

Thats over $7,800 extra value.

PS. I think 'SPRINT' should only be used for a hot XR8 as in the past.

Good idea to drop the sprint name. Should only be used for Hot XR8's or revised FTE lineup.

i would have gone for a low boost turbo for say, extra $2000 - they would sell like hotcakes!

And why not :) ... sounds like a VERY good buy.. Id buy it in a shot but im a V8 man myself..

I wouldnt whack on a turbo though.. thats what Barra is for :D

I got to drive a series 2 VCT manual today. Was asked to check out the diff as the owner wasn't happy with it and it is something our club likes to do for the ford community.

I must say that if all XR6s have a clutch like this car had they should be taken to the tip and dropped into the nearest hole.

Took alot of effort to depress and once there had no feeling on take up. Needless to say I have suggested the clutch operation be checked and not worry about the diff. nearly impossible to drive.

Coming from my car which has a light clutch but excellent feel it took a lot of getting used to. Making calls now to find out more on this situation on behalf of the owner.

I have a feeling they had one of these on display at the Melbourne International Motor Show. I definately sat in a Blue XR6 which had special extras like the leather seats and 18 inch wheels. I can't remember what it was called but I assume it is the ST in question. Not bad at all, though it felt ordinary after sitting in Audis and BMWs all morning...

It may be Ford's run-out marketing plan, but they will entrench the ST package name into the buyer's mind. Perhaps Ford will retain the ST name for Barra if it is successful, and upspec the XR6 for the Barra range, but with a turbo motor included in the package..
