I think the bulge looks fantastic. It makes a statement about the car as much as just cover the engine. It gives the car an image of power and strength. The original Capri in Europe ran a bulge on hot V6 versions to separate them for the lesser 4 cylinder version. The bulge was such a hit, it was later fitted to all Capri’s.
Yes, you could get around the bulge by making the whole nose of the car higher, with God knows what effect on the overall styling of it.
Alternatively, you could make the engine lower (stifling performance, it was made that high for a reason!). A case of the tail wagging the dog.
My personal opinion is that the bulge looks fantastic. If you don't like a tough looking muscle car, perhaps you would be better off in a Camry or a Magna.
