XR8 bulge alternatives

I'm not overly impressed by the "bulge" & think that Ford could do better. I understand that it was required to enable the 260 V8 to fit but the designers could have been a bit more creative.

Can anyone think of any alternatives to the "bulge" & come up with some photoshop pics? Maybe your alternative can be utilised to help improve not only looks but performance in some way.

Let's see what you've got.

Have you seen the bulge in person?

Do you have a white stick and wear dark glasses too? :s5

I think the bulge looks fantastic. It makes a statement about the car as much as just cover the engine. It gives the car an image of power and strength. The original Capri in Europe ran a bulge on hot V6 versions to separate them for the lesser 4 cylinder version. The bulge was such a hit, it was later fitted to all Capriís.

Yes, you could get around the bulge by making the whole nose of the car higher, with God knows what effect on the overall styling of it.

Alternatively, you could make the engine lower (stifling performance, it was made that high for a reason!). A case of the tail wagging the dog.

My personal opinion is that the bulge looks fantastic. If you don't like a tough looking muscle car, perhaps you would be better off in a Camry or a Magna.

I think you may have missed the point.
What mavss was saying, and correct me if I'm wrong, is the bulge is great in theory, but the bulge they've given us leaves a bit to be desired.

And I agree. Side on the bulge looks stupid in my eyes. Instead of rolling all the way over, I think it should have gone right to the back of the hood. ala XC Bathurst Cobra, Capri etc etc

I'm working on a photoshop job now... I'll get back with the finished image ASAP.

Yep. If you look at the supercar side on the bulge is, well, Lacking. It's short and stubby, and makes the car look Too heavy at the front.
