Question XR8 Windsor Vs Mazda RX3

Hi Guys,

My best mate has a EB XR8 Running a 5L Windsor with a full lukey exhaust system and shaved heads, the motor was rebuilt about 2 years ago and has 25,000 kays on it.
The thing is there is a little mazda RX3 around who wants to race him, the owner reckons he only has a 1.3l turbo with an exhaust system and he reckons he runs 12.9s anyway my mate wants to give him a serve of 5Ltrs of ford torque, and see how he likes that to shut him up!

how do ya think he's goin to go? the 5L would shit all over the 1.3 wouldnt it?

btw the XR has a T5 trans....

Cheers

rx3 with a 13b turbo??
people get those things going so quick its scary.
your mate should be prepared to get munched up if he is going to try.

Yes he is serious, those rotary rev really high and a lot of power can be extracted from quite easily. Venture over to autospeed and take a look at the videos, I dont think there is a rotary there running slower than 11 seconds.
It doesnt take make to get them moving. Especially with the light weight of the RX3.

Re: XR8 Windsor Vs Mazda RX3

i second the muching

1.3 ltr capacity is irrevelant ..its rotary... They go like bullets in a car with no weight (ala RX3)..Throw on a turbo and i dont doubt for 1 minute sub 13sec 1/4's.. There are redg

Your mate might go mid 14's so he is going to be owned...sorry

Re: XR8 Windsor Vs Mazda RX3

There is know way your friend there will beat the RX3. With its huge weight advantage and 1.3l turbo power you friend will be the one getting his arse handed to him. With a 1.3t in there it does not take much at all to get into the 11's. He must be stoked you guys have no idea what ur up against.

"the owner reckons he only has a 1.3l turbo" <----Judging buy that comment it is a valid assumtion you donnot know what a rotary is or you donnot know this car is powered by a rotary engine.

Again he could be lying about the 1.3 litre turbo, and really have a 12A atmo engine under there (i doubt he is lying). But if he really has got the turbo your friend is up for a spanking.

Re: XR8 Windsor Vs Mazda RX3

What i was trying to get at is rotary engines are not capacity dependant.. It is the design of them that make them so revy and very easy to extract power from not so much as their cubic capacity
