Wink XR_Strider_GuY's VY Assessment

Our work just got the first VY Commodore. It's a Berlina with optional Anthrecite Leather only 90km on the clock.

Start the VY up and all is very familiar with the typical sound of the Buick V6. The transmission gate and grip depsite looking abit naf feels quite good. From the VT/VTII it seems the latest 152kw engine feels abit more livelier (didn't rev the engine hard at all only 2800rpm). Still sounds rough through the revs. Seats were quite confortable though it felt your sitting quite high up.
The steering feels very weighted, while it's good for on centre feel, tip the thing around corners and it feels very bulky. Doesn't feel it can corner as good as my XR6. The ride seems more firmer than the equivelant BA, and bumps and thumps are felt in the cabin though it's not annoying.

Inside the steering wheel feel and looks feels a grade under the BA and AU offering. Plastic fitting especially around the fuse panel are misaligned quite badly. And they still haevn't sorted the top dash finish with that 3cm gap in the middle.
The dash is quite nice with icon like graphics to denote gear position, cruise control and power/econ buttons.

Stereo, i think the Falcon Premium Sound in my XR6 sounds better depsite being similar in specification.

Brakes require more effort to push, (ie, the pedal feels like it drops about 2-3cm before the brakes start working). Probably still need bedding in, non the less i didn't notice it when i drive the new falcons.

All in all i think the BA Falcon is still a notch better, but definitly the VY comes 2nd compared with the 2 other local offerings.
