Situation: One ED falcon with bad (****en terrible) lifter noise. Previous attempts to fix the noise have not been very successful. We got a set of rocker gear from rob which had damaged pedistals (after he stupidly tightened the rocker cover to about a squillion nM and stripped the thread in the soft alloy) The plan was to mix and match pedistals and rocker and make a good set but after pulling the rockers off the ED realised that the EF style rockers and ED pedistals do not mix. Now AFTER this attempt ws made to fix them I was told the sump was damaged.
Get a load of this....
So I'm picking that the rockers may be ok and that the real cause it critically low oil pressure/ damaged oil pump. When my ea had a loose oil pump it had little oil pressure but enough not to light the idiot light. the lifters were so noisey hile driving. I reckon this might be the case here as well.
Now I promised luke ages ago to fix it but things drag on and whenever i have free time he doesnt and vice versa. So I want to finally set up a day and enlist the help of some other members and get his sump and oil pump replaced. Steven: Can we borrow your engine crane for a few days if you arent using it? Rob: I'm gunna need you and your swish box of fancy tools. Who else wants to/ can help?
OK well I currently have Steven's engine crane but it isn't being used at the minute so with his permission you can borrow it. I'd be happy to help out too, assuming I'm free. Let me know.
