XT-V8 Mk2 Highway patrol

I was just going along the F3 freeway north of Sydney, and saw an unmarked XT V8 Mk2 HP car!!! It was brand new, white with no marks at all, I was admiraring this nice car at about 120 Ks when I saw 2 little lights in the back window, 1 red 1 blue, it had XR8 ride hight, XR wheels, and a big copper driving. So be warned there a unmarked Turbo, and now an unmarked V8 XT crusing the F3........

I wonder if that was paid for with the revenue from speed cameras... Nah, what am I thinking, speed cameras aren't a revenue rasing exercise, are they?

Re: XT-V8 Mk2 Highway patrol

That could possibly be the Feds, the feds often have SS and XR8 models but "downgrade" the car for safety reasons, for instance, on their surveillance cars they remove the rear wing and side skirts.

Oh yeah, the NSW police have 2 unmarked Magnas working the F3 too - doesnt really matter whats under the bonnet.

Re: XT-V8 Mk2 Highway patrol

Only 'unusual' cop car ive seen around is an unmarked N/A XR6 up here, and the thing about it is it has the black and white slimline plates instead of the usual type.

Re: XT-V8 Mk2 Highway patrol

hmm I'll have to keep a look out for them. I noticed a marked XR6T was doing the rounds on the F3 the other day too.

Re: XT-V8 Mk2 Highway patrol

Theres a mercury silver XR6T unmarked cop car that goes around Geelong. Theres also a Phantom BA XR8 aswell. I am yet to see a marked XR6T cop car, most of the marked BA's are XR8's. I thought the Turbos would be more popular than the XR8 as they are faster, handle better, cheaper, and don't use as much fuel.

Re: XT-V8 Mk2 Highway patrol

Up here in QLD there is a Narooma Blue XR6 NA floating around with the gear on it XXX IAC the rego is, not sure about numbers.

They also have a range of XR6 Turbo marked sedans that they use for HWP, but I see alot more SS's.

A V8 XT would be a waste of money considering the performance advantage it has over a standard six...
