Thumbs up XT V8 Performance Pack

I noticed this on goauto..

"Ford will offer the new 220kW Barra 220 5.4-litre V8 with the XT, packaged with sports suspension and a limited slip differential".

Sounds good, The SV8' is $40,490 and the XT version will be very similar, but with better IRS with the new Cross Blade IRS and better appointed- power windows, air-con etc. What the XT are lacking is the 17"...Geoff?

Cool.

Whenever someone orders an XT with a V8 and body kit, I think it should be badged by the factory as an XT-SR, as the extras make it substantially different to a 'stock' XT.

Did you notice you can also order a 5-speed with the V8 on XT? - this is the first time in a long time that Ford have offered a manual on the base model with a v8. Hip Hip ...

I reckon it should be badged as a Falcon S. Sr sounds to much like xr and the falcon s is due to reappear.

It doesn't need any more initials after the model - remember XT is the sports model - there is no "base" model any more.

Two strands - sports with XT, XR, GT and luxury with Futura, Fairmont, Ghia.

Too true T3man

On a side note, I think the slogan for the XT should be XT - X-tra Tough

Sports Control Blade IRS is Standard on Fairmont Ghia and optional on XT, Futura and Fairmont. Its not available on the Wagons. XR Control Blade IRS is standard on the XR's (duh!).

17" Wheels with 225/50 R17 Tyres are mandatory for the Sports IRS.

According to the brochure.

roll

A 220 XT with 470nm and a manual should really pull hard, maybe harder than the Gen 3 but thats only speculation. I hope they (Motor, Whees Mag etc.) do a comparo against the SV8 and this new XTV8 performance pack.
