Yesterday - AUVCT vs EDXR6 vs VN 5L

OK. Drag racing is bad, so we stopped at around 120 KM/H.

Yesterday I met up with two mates - with a EDXR6 and a VN 5L and matched them up against my AUI XR6VCT. The VN was auto - the two Falcons manual - all stock, but the VN had an aftermarket exhaust.

First up was the EDXR6 vs VN 5L - EDXR6 won easily by a few car lengths - a bit of a surprise.

So then it was me against the EDXR6. I knew that he had a weight advantage but I would have more traction (17's & IRS).

Anyway we went for it and I pulled away about half a car length in first, because he span the wheels a bit, whereas my IRS just dug in. After that though, he stayed right there all the way to the end of third gear where I got back on the brakes. Basically the two cars had exact acceleration - except that the ED with smaller wheels and thinner tyres couldn't get the power down as well.

As for the VN Commodore - crap

Wheels: 17" Series 1 XR
Exhaust: VCT with no resonators & 3" mandrel from mufflers back, dump pipe
Pacemaker headers (Waste of money).
Air Intake: T-Series, K&N Filter.
Brakes: Calipers painted red, DBA slotted rotors & Lucas pads.
Windows: Tinted.
Gearstick: Shortened.
Fuel: Dual Fuel.
Dyno: 143 rwKw (Dynodynamics - shootout mode).
Heathcote: 15.87 @ 89.1 Mph.

Interesting! Didn't the ED XR6's have 161kw? If it did, that's a pretty impressive result for it, keeping up with a VCT and killing a VN 5.0ltr.

No suprises there. When realised the XR6 could kill all other V8's, even the likes of 220kw GTS's I think. Wheels got a 7.8 time to 100. Can't wait to see what times we'll see out of these engines when they get turboed

They certainly do.

I absolutely love the EB-ED model!! Not just because they were quick, but when done up right, they just look pure horn. BTW, very nice car Kelli
