"Why no Falcon? The AU Series ll Futura, though much improved over the AU, scored only two against three criteria: smoothness and quietness, fuel efficiency and innovation. This dragged it back to fourth place in the class, so it missed the shortlist and was not taken to Queensland"
:(
another boost for commodore, and AUIII will be no different other than cosmetics from AUII
NRMA has no credibility with me to be honest. they've been picking the same cars for years (eg. subaru liberty) simply because they have a knack for those cars!

holden commodore? smooth and quiet? riiiiiight... fuel efficiency, the falcon's fuel efficient enough! 10 litres per 100kays on highway is what some four bangers get!!! lastly... innovation... oh not like offering LPG only is more innovative than "CONTROL LINK". uhm, what EXACTLY is so innovative on VT/VTII/VX/VXII Commodores? crappy obsolete irs? "CONTROL LINK"? wooden steering?
bah! people are stupid!
*storms off*
edit:
ps. i'm not disputing that the m3 is a great car. good point about the evo6 though!

Myabe they did this whole thing before the evo 6 was released. If so they obviosly didnt give themslevs enough time to come to a sensible conclusion about which car is better, Falcon or commo. My mum drives as both are company cars and I asked her to tell me honestly as (she knows i LOVE Ford) which she liked more. She said the Commodore looks better but the flacons steering is better but it also seems a little harsher on bumps. She said if she were to chose one would be the falcon just. Also asked which brakes she felt were better and she said commodre. I think it must have been one of the fortes that didnt have abs although she wouldnt have had to use it. I know AUIII got abs standard now but are the brakes changed aprt from hooking on ABS, from the orignal AU?

Certainly a few discrepancies there, particularly the Accent. Come on! They had a guy from Holden driving a Commo on the news regarding the awards he said " The Holden Commodore has wold class economy , safety and quality" !!! :MUha: What about all those recalls?
I'm glad the toyota didn't take the second place instead of futura:)and where did the ss and integra or celica went under the 56k sports car?any ideas?
au fortes had pretty much shocking brakes! i've driven an au1 without abs, au2 with abs, and my own au1 with abs and the difference is huge! the difference between abs and non abs that is. abs feels like can actually stop, but the non-abs forte was just horrible... that's one thing i do'nt like about falcons - brakes.

Just checked the PDF from NRMA. At least they were fair enough to say the XR8 had 5 in performance, more than WRX. Same for the futura compared to acclaim.
Safety been equal for XR8 and the subaru. How the h**l do they compare safty between a 1.3 tonnes to a 1.6 tonnes cars??what's gonna happen to the insiders of both cars if the XR hit the wrx face to face?I mean,,if hyundai put 1000000 airbags inside it would that make it as safe as fairlane when u drive at 120k per hour????that is so unfair.
