Yikes ! Not a good start in NZ

New Zealand vehicle registrations in January climbed by 20% compared with last year according to latest figures.

The Land Transport Safety Authority reports there were 20,232 first-time registrations of new and used imported vehicles last month compared with 16,837 in January 2001.

It is the tenth month in a row that registrations have been up on the previous year.

Car registrations rose 21% to 16,249. Just over 5,000 were new car registrations and 11,234 were used car registrations.

The market share leader for new car registrations last month was Holden with 16.8% followed by Toyota with 14.6% percent. Ford was next with 10.1%, Mitsubishi had 9.3% and Honda 9.1%.

The three most popular new car models for the month were the Holden VX Commodore, Toyota Corolla and Ford Mondeo.
