Well, i figured I should get the most amount of replies here, cause it's kinda important....
So somehow some ground paths on the back of the old gauge cluster burnt themselves up just beyond where the ground where the tcah met up with them. Oddly enough it only seemed to smoke when the brakes were applied. I thought this was very interesting and proceded to trace most of the wires under the dash, basically everything having anything to do with the brakes or the right side wire/plug for the dash. I came up with nothing. Everything looks normal, and everyhing seems to be in perfect shape. Now my question I'm faced with is this:
Should I go ahead and plug in the new cluster, possibly risking burning that one up too if the problem lies elsewhere?
Should I bite the $115 bullet, and give it a shot hoping the problem was in the old dash, and the whole brake thing was just an odd coincidence?
Opinions and insight would be appreciated.
