Its about time a local manufacturer started using LED Technology like the EURO manufacturers. Neways to set the new Statesman appart from its cheaper SWB Commodore cousin Holden have introduced LED taillights, adding some more value to the bigger more expensive car.
Ford should seriously look into this for the Fairlane and LTD.. Easy low cost ways to make them look more modern and cool. Given the technology in the ford it would be fairly simple to develop varible LED brake lights that change intensity/colour the harder you brake.
LED light up (x1000) faster, are completely redundant, have much longer service life, being solid state are much more resistant to vibration, use less power, have higher visability. I've mentioned this before here in the forums, Holdens actually gone and done it.. Good for them.
It seems Ford gets left behind in a lot of things, be it major or minor, important or irrelevant, exciting or disgusting. Still, reguardless of that, Holden try new things first. Sometimes they are a success, sometimes not.

Beaten again. I really love the look of LED brake/indicator lights. They're so sharp and effective. I really hope Ford don't muck around getting these stuck into the LWB and maybe even the Fairmont Ghia.

Couldn't agree more. Hope Ford are not riding on the BA success thinking that's all they need. Or it could be that the cost of the BA and the T haven't left much for the BA update. Hopefully the next model is a real advancement.

heres a list of things Ford can still do before Holden:
LED headlights
brake by wire
steer by wire
rear passenger airbags
head airbags (ok its getting silly in the airbag department - but its marketing)
100% ethanol compatible unleaded engines that can adapt a switch over in the future
V10
Hybrid (including high performance hybrids)
iDrive type system
6 spd auto
So have holden relaesed any pics of the New LWB cars yet?
What do these new lights look like?

the car looks exactly the same - don't get too excited. just new wheels, parking sensors on the front, and the lights on the back have that jewel effect the EF Falcon had... the indicator section is now clear as opposed to the whole unit being red
