Alex Zanardi had a horrific accident when he slammed into the wall at around 300km/h and with Tagliani later hitting his car when Zanardi's car slid down onto the racing line.
Zanardi was rushed to hospital and it is revealed that he has lost both his legs and has a broken pelvis :( :( :( :( :( :(
I saw a picture of the car and it looks like that it had snapped in half.
I can't believe this. I'm still in shock !
What is the world coming too???
It was during the race .
CART is unsafe and they should look at F1 for example and make it as safe as possible.
When Luciano Burti slammed into the wall at Spa at 300km/h the cockpit was still intact and thats why he's alive.
I thought that after the death of Greg Moore that CART would improved the safety. Obviously not :(
Yeh but this is not the kind of news that i would like to post as quickly as possible if you know what i mean :(
Unfortunately the Donut King has to view the races from the sidlines.
We need new smilies . I need one that cries because that's the way i feel after this .
I think you'll find that CART is just as safe as F1, if not safer. But generally the accidents in CART involve much more speed and usually hitting harder objects(unbarricaded walls).
Sad to see another great driver lost from Motor racing, but fortuanatly he atleast still has his life.
And IMO I wouldnt be surprised to see him actually back in a race car eventually....

Just saw the footage on the news, looks Like Zanardi was exiting the pits and the car got out of control, was sideways across the track and Tagliani had no where to go. The front of Tagliani's car impacted just behind the front wheels of Zanardi's car, sheering the front of the car off.
They showed the recovery of the vehicle where the front whhels and nose assembly was caned onto the truck in one piece. The tub shared at that point.
What a horrific accident. It was a massive hit, somewhere arround 200 Mph (320 Kph).
At least he got away with his life but to loose both his legs....
There is a video clip of it on epsn.com. Don't think I want to see it again though...
