170 C.I.D. 6 has gotta go!

Howdy
Just inherited a 1972 bronco with the dreaded 170 six. This thing has gotta go! Not being a native Ford-speaker, who can tell me the easiest way to up-size this motor? I'd like to know how much trouble would a 300 big six be to sling in there? I'm leaning towards keeping it 6 in a row. If this gets to be too big a hassle, I'll just put a 4.3 chevy in there with a 700r4... Clearly I need help here.

240 / 300 same block , not sure if the same bellhousing but the parts to do the job were common for f100 , if you place a chev in it God will hurt you

Re: 170 C.I.D. 6 has gotta go!

Probably true... I know that the 170 and 200 are essentially the same, but I'm thinking the 240 is a different critter (but I don't know that). Assuming that this is close to correct, is there a 300 or 240 engine and trans combo that would easily adapt to the Bronco dana transfer case? I'm really liking the torque daddy 300 idea...
