I have a 1984 fullsize bronco. no motor, tranny, no dash, no wiring harness. a body with wheels and 4 inch lift basically. i have a 390 from a 1973 ford condor (the motor home yes) can i, or should i use the 390, or go EFI, or 351W. and if you all have a better idea on what tranny to use other than a c6, help me out. im thinking if not too hard go with a 390 and c6. unless theyre is a better way and route..
76 was the last year for the FE's, so any mounting may require some finangling. #90's were strong and pretty durable, the C6 was a great tranny. There's really no "better" way. EFI (if you understand it) simplifies maintenance and the 5.0 ran for years, so parts are plentiful and reasonably cheap. What's your goal? Just a cruiser? Primary transportation? 4-wheeling?
Sure, but it will require some modifications, but you'll definitely have something that's pretty unique. I don't know of anyone who's done it personally, so I don't have anything to base my opinion, but I don't think it'd be too bad of a mod. If you want to throw an additional grand or two, you can also toss a stand alone throttle body on it to gain some efficiency and easy horsepower.
