1995 Bronco II and 1988 Bronco II - Ford Forums

Hello,

I have a 1988 Bronco II with a great engine and a blown transmission. It is in otherwise pretty good shape with lots of new parts. I have a chance of getting an 85 with good engine and tranny. The problem with the 85 is some body rust (no big deal) and bad exhaust and brakes. I was wondering if the exhaust on my 88 (totally rebuilt including the cat) would fit on the 85? Another thought, would the transmission be able to work with the 2.9 in the '88 (I'm not a mechanic so please forgive me if this is a really stupid question). How about body parts, interior parts? things like that? Can anyone tell me what I may be able to do with the 2?

Looks not good for the swap;

& I believe the 2.8 bell housing isnt the same as the 2.9s
