1995 Bronco II and 1988 Bronco II

Hello,

I have a 1988 Bronco II with a great engine and a blown transmission. It is in otherwise pretty good shape with lots of new parts. I have a chance of getting an 85 with good engine and tranny. The problem with the 85 is some body rust (no big deal) and bad exhaust and brakes. I was wondering if the exhaust on my 88 (totally rebuilt including the cat) would fit on the 85? Another thought, would the transmission be able to work with the 2.9 in the '88 (I'm not a mechanic so please forgive me if this is a really stupid question). How about body parts, interior parts? things like that? Can anyone tell me what I may be able to do with the 2?

Thanks
Steve

Re: 1995 Bronco II and 1988 Bronco II

Looks not good for the swap;
Matt wrote on this;

"The engines are significantl different with just about no interchangable parts.
The 2.8L is a lower HP carburated version while the 2.9L is a multiport EFI
version with better HP. (In '86 the 2.9L offered 140, very good for its day.)

The 2.9L was a major step forward for Ranger pickups and unless you are
planning on a V-8 engine swap in the near future, I'd hold out for an '86 or
newer.

Matt"

& I believe the 2.8 bell housing isnt the same as the 2.9s

Look here for better swaps;

& Body parts, etc. check out my Bronco site in my sig for many parts; search by key word for what you need.
GL!
