hi i have a 79 f150 but no one in the f series forum knows much about 4wd. i am putting on 44" tires and a 14 bolt chev rear diff. it is eight lug and i want to convert the front to 8 lug as well. i have the dana 44 in the front and want to know if the knuckles from a k30 chev will fit. f250 knuckles are too expensive. i want to keep the solid front diff. and the coils. thanks

Your asking if it's possible to put in an IFS or solid axle in the front? Because IFS is too much work to install and also it work becuase transmission housing will be in the way of the front driveshaft. Solid axle might work but the gear housing on a Chevy is on the opposite side, its on the left and Ford is on the right, not unless if you mount it upside-down and set it up to be fitted on a Ford but that would probably 4 or 5 months.

the ford and chev trucks run dana 44 front diffs, lh pumpkin on ford, rh on chev. the knuckles are very similar in the way they mount, i cant tell the difference. i dont want any ifs junk in the front. f250 has solid front diff but leaf springs, and the knuckles are interchangeable.

Really both run 44's? I thought that Chevy built their own axles.

the early ones had a 44 that looks different, the late ones had 12 bolt diffs

do you guys have dana 70's down there? If you do thy will more costly but real easy to install and more better on the trails or rock climbing.

you can find them, but are very expensive, and probably not much stronger than the 14b ff. parts are a lot cheaper, (lockers etc). front dana 60's have to be imported, or much modified from an f350
