FORDZILLA 5.8

First off hello my name is Khris I am from Enterprise AL.

My question is. I have just purchased a 92 bronco 5.8. I was told when i bought it that it would run for a while and when it was turned off it would not restart for a while.

I bought it anyway.$500 so its a deal either way.

On the way home I drove it and it has NO POWER. It will not accelerate.
When you start it it idles high maybe 2500 rpm. and driving home i couldn't get much more than that out of it.

It also has an obnoxious smell of gas.

I crawled under it and the cats were hot as He((.

Any ideas???

were the cats glowing? like cherry red?cause they are severely clogged.they need to be changed.cause gas is building up and has nowhere to go.that is also why it has no power

Well I only drove it about 5 miles. But they were real hot.I crawled under to see if they were still on there and i could feel the heat.
I tried touching one but it was extremely hot. Then i reached and I could touch the muffler but not the cats.

I live in Alabama we don't run cats

I do however think I will pull them off.

I went outside just a few minutes ago and tried starting it and i could hear a exhaust leak at the back side of the motor.I think the bypass is leaking too.

i was gonna say hollow them out.but some states thats illegal.but thats what i would do.

I pulled the plugs this morning and the cylinders were full of gas.

I also checked the fire coming out of the wires and its weak as he^^ not a pop spark it just looks weak and sounds like a dud.
