anyone I need help, bronco 11 fuel smoke FIXED NOW

87 bronco 11 2.9 fuel injected. Have black fuel smoke, like it is flooding or running extremly rich. replaced the fuel regulator and all sensors and computer. Didn't do a thing to help it. any ideas would be very appreciated. Don't know what else to try. Hope someone here has had same problem. One other thing someone has knocked all the beads out of the catalytic converters.

ooooh,
right away my attention is drawn by the catalytic converter comment.
you say you replaced all sensors did that include the O2 sensor in the exhaust and if so was it located before or after the cat conv.
some O2 sensors go bad due to carbon buildup from lack of heat which could be your prob if the O2 is located after the cat.

Yeah my suggestion would be the O2 sensor as well. How long has it been smoking? Could be the injectors. Have you checked for any codes?

If you suspect the "Cat" have a back pressure check done to insure it's not clogged.

The cat converter is an empty shell. The person I bought this from, knock all the insides out cause convert was clogged. the o2 sensor is in front of the cat converter. Bought the truck and it was aready doing this.

the injectors could be leaking if its been doing it for a while. Just my two cents.

so now we know the O2 sensor is in front of the cat and should be getting hot enough to keep from carboning up.
if this is new then you still have to check the injectors.

Re: anyone I need help, bronco 11 fuel smoke

Well i was just thinking that if it had only just started it may not be injectors because injectors wouldnt suddenly just leak and let out smoke. it would take time, wouldn't it?

Found the problem. The bronco 11 was doing this when I bought it. Long story short. Someone had intentionally pushed a plastic plug up the map senor vaccum line about 3 inches... removed the plug.... runs great.
Glad its all over ... no hair left...

Thank you all for taking time to post your ideas it was really appreciated.
