Re: Bronco II Fuel Pump Replace

I hooked it up correctly just nothing happened. I wired it directly to my battery. I expected that the motor on the new pump would run. I can't imagine why it didn't run. It's just a DC motor with a pump.

Re: Bronco II Fuel Pump Replace

There's no pressure switch in the circuit. There should be voltage to both pumps at all times when the key is on and the fuel pump test circuit is grounded. If you're not getting voltage to the pump connector with the key on and the pin in the DLC grounded, you have a wiring problem.

To test the pump, just hook up a 12V source to the positive pin and ground the negative pin.

You need to check for voltage at both connectors to see what's up. Be sure you're using your voltmeter correctly also or you'll just be chasing your tail.

Check for voltage at the frame mounted pump connector by simply turning the key on with the fuel pump test pin grounded and using your voltmeter. You should have battery voltage. To check for voltage at the in-tank pump without dropping the tank, locate the wires running back to the pump. You need to probe the pink/black wire and the black ground wire as close to the tank as possible to check for battery voltage. Checking for battery voltage at the pumps is important so you can isolate the problem pump.
