Help...1986 Bronco rear window motor dead, window is down!

The power rear window in my 1986 fullsize Bronco is dead. Of course, it is threatening rain and the rear window is in the down position.

I have power all the way to the wire connection closest to the motor (I've taken the interior access panel off of the tailgate.

It appears that the motor is dead. How do I get to the motor? The window is in my way!! How do I manually raise the window? Please don't tell me that I have to break the glass!

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Re: Help...1986 Bronco rear window motor dead, window is down!

I had the same problem a while back with my rear window. In order to fix the problem you need to remove the panel that covers the inside of the tailgate. It's about 10 screws and is really easy to take off. Once you have that off you can replace the motor (somewhat of a pain in the arse) or just push the window up (with the tailgate closed) and stick a board under it to keep it up until you have time to replace the motor. hope th is helps.

I had this same thing happen to my 84 bronco I swaped the two wires around so the down wire was in the up wire connection . It turned out the up wire was stuffed somewhere and the motor itself was fine just no power getting to the up side. I would give this a go first a least this way you might get the window up before it rains

I Have An 86 Bronco Also And The Same Problem.....i Have The Inside Panel Off, But The Window Still Won't Budge. There Is A Window Lock To Keep The Window From Falling Down Right? Does That Effect Me Trying To Push The Window Up, And If It Does, How Do I Get Around It?
