Help

my friends and i are taking apart a 1982 bronco and need to know the exact name of a part and where to find one. the part is the plate that is in between the tranny and the engine

Do you mean the dust plate, if so. i would not suggest not replacing it.

the only thing about it that i know is that it got bent out of shape and the starter no longer lines up right, so it doesn't hit the flywheel right and just spins, and when my friend pulled the starter, wrenched on the piece of metal and put the starter back in, it would work for a little while, then start free spinning again

we got a number off of it though

yeah you deff. want to replace it, some people see it as just a dust pan(Shield), but if you remove it and dont replace it, that gap that it kept wont be there any more, and you will have some problems....
