Question Power steering gearbox seals

Hi,

I just replaced the seals on my power steering gearbox, but when the wheels were hooked back up and I turned the wheel the seals and the retaining snap ring popped out and all the fluid drained. Does anyone know if there is a way to tell if the snap ring is seated properly so it holds the seals where they should be? I assume you just keep pushing it up until you hear it snap into a groove or something. By the way I have a 1993 Bronco with a 5.0.

Thanks,

Dion
