Thumbs down Push Button Four Wheel

I just got a 1993 Bronco XLT. It has push button four wheel drive but someone already replaced the auto hubs for some warns. The motor that came with it knocked like an SOB and I just swapped the long block for one out of a 1979 Mustang. Runs decently. Decided to try the old push button, and no light comes on, on the switch. Tried 4-Wheel, tried 4-Wheel Lo, nothing. I tried it again today, thought I heard a click somewhere under the hood, no where near the T-case. There was a blown 25A fuse in the power distribution box when I first tried turning the motor over cause the ignition switch wouldn't engage the starter but now it works fine, but it wasn't that fuse. I did replace the fuse with just a 15A fuse though cause that's all that was available at the time. I haven't checked the power dist. box since then though, which was Sunday. What do you guys think? The dude said the 4x4 worked. The truck has 127k mi. Thanks a lot!
