confused Should I still buy it?

I've been looking at a 1989 Bronco that's for sale for 1000$ cd. The owner told me it had issues with the 4x4 and some rust, which I was ok with.

But when I went to out to buy it, as I was trying it in his yard, the brake line ruptured and I ended up tellin him to either fix it or forget about it. Now I'm on the fence; even if he does fix it (I can't even get the truck to garage if he doesn't), isn't a ruptured brake line sort of a bad omen?

I really wanted a Bronco for camping and wandering but if everything breaks down on me in the middle of nowhere, my camping trips could get sh**ty real fast.

I just wanted to know if any of you have opinion on this. I know it's a good price but I might end up spending another 5k just fixing it, sounds like.

Re: Should I still buy it?

A brake line is petty $$, (diy)the 4x4 issue can be very costly. If you are willing to spend 5 grand moreto fix the 4x4 and whatever else you have planned, the brake line is minor.

Re: Should I still buy it?

Yes the brake lines are not a big cost but I hate rust in a vehicle as it is very hard to fix properly and usually is one heck of a lot worse than what you expect it is. What you can see on the outside is only part of what there really is usually.

I guess it depends on what you want from the vehicle. If it's just a hack that you want to smash around out in the bush then maybe it's worth it.
