Someone stole my antitheft under the dash pull key.
This is the little flat plug key in for the anti-theft system. This is the one that kills the ignition and slips into a slot under the dash on the left side of the drivers side.
How do I replace this key or what would be the best thing to do? Are these things interchangable or was this just done for meaness? HoOw expensive are these moduleplug ins?

Raven,
Help me help you. Tell me what you don't understand. I know I sound like the thinga ma jig under the watcha ma call it but I don't have anyway of better describing it than in my post.
Thanks,
Lablover
OK, let me try. There is a flat plug in piece that plugs into a plug located under the dash of the drivers side. When this flat plug is pulled out the truck will not start. This is the plug that was taken.
Re: Someone stole my antitheft under the dash pull key.
Thanks folks,
I can't believe I didn't describe the vehicle. I wish I had been drinking instead of just stupid; at least that way I would have an excuse. Anyway, It's a 95 Ford Bronco with a 351 Cubic inch. XLT Model. I do not know if this is original as I bought the truck used when it was two years old. I do suspect it is.
I am located in Houston, Texas
I do not know what the part is called. I know it's removable. It is a removable small device that can be put in your pocket while away from the vehicle to kill the ignition switch. When you return to the car you reinsert the part to start your car. This is not a mechanical device but some kind of circuit completing device.
If this device is not in place the ignition starter will not work but all other electrical options can be worked when the key is turned to the accessories position.
Re: Someone stole my antitheft under the dash pull key.
it sounds to me like you have an after market engine immobiliser fitted.
the thingy that you have lost is called a touch key or jack plug .
one reason that someone might steal the plug is so that they can come back and steal the car car later ?.
i would suggest that you call your local ford dealer to confirm weather ford fitted the `95 bronco with these devises ( i doubt it though ) ,then find a car security specilist who should be able to identify the brand of immobiliser and either get you a replacement or bypass the system so you can start the car.
it might be cheaper to fit a whole new security system than to replace the lost plug.

351CID,
You have an amazing insight to people. This is what I suspect was the intent as my Daughter and I were hunting and I am sure someone was hoping we would leave the vehicle with all our gear and much worse the dogs because someone wouldn't carry them. There were a couple of guys hanging around looking like buzzards as we left who had a 95 Ford truck and when my Daughter saw them she almost screeched. She suspected the truck would have been stolen and stripped for parts. If a 16 year old kid has that kind of insight to human nature this society needs a few more prisons opened to house these buzzards. We were hunting with a student of mine who had a large vehicle and we towed it to the closest town and then I called AAA. Anyway, I had it towed to a dealer and he pulled it for $70.00. I am back home with it and not having to worry if something I did to repair it was going to come back and haunt me later.
