tranny

when my truck is at low rpms goin down the road at about 30 to 40 i notice the truck "jerkin" i beleive its the tranny but im not quite sure. any ideas (i dont know much about trannys so any help would be greatly appreciated) it also has a hard jerk when i put it into gear and for some reason i cant get the four wheel drive to engage i only hear a click

again any help would be appreciated

I've heard that if you dont use your 4wd often enough it can stick. How often have you used it?

Low stall torque converters have a tendency to cause that "jerk" when you put it in gear but if it's very harsh, I would tend to believe the TC is on its way out. The shuddering you're feeling at low rpm's is most likely caused by the torque converter lockup not working properly. A new converter is fairly inexpensive but it's a big job to change.

the guy who had the truck before me told me that he put the truck in 4wd then he tried to put it in low and then he had no 4x4 at all (push button)

i also notice that the truck wants to shift to soon when i am accelerating slowly

if its changing to soon, adjust your throttle valve cable.

i was told that the reason that some of the push button 4x4 dont work alot was because of the motor that engages the 4wd on the back of the tranny goes bad very easily


any ideas??
