Transmission- Need Info

I recently purchased a 1984 Full sized bronco. 351w with 4 barrel holley. I noticed on the way home it was running about 3000 rpms and only going about 60-65 mph. Due to other circumstances I have pulled the motor and am fixin to rebuild. new bearings rings, ect. in the process of pulling the motor the tranny bell housing broke all across the top. now the question I would like to run a lower rpm at that speed, say maybe 2100 or so. is there a swap tranny i could use. Without purchasing a new one or stuff. something i could find at a junk yard. like the AOD or something?

You need to change your gear ratio in your diffs.

Re: Transmission- Need Info

the RPMs will be lower and get better fuel economy but you will lose the take off speeds... my car i feel is geared a lil low and wanna bump to 3.27 or 3.55 trac-lok... your Bronco probably has 4.10s in it

my 1986 Grand Marquis LS... Rose...
