every time i lock my 96 bronco into four wheel and drive a bit or turn i get sone nasty clanking commong from my front end. but only in fout wheel drive. any ideas?

Does it make a difference if the hubs are locked or not? could possibly be one of the axels or check u-joints.Try looking while all four wheels are off the ground,on jack stands or a lift and running in gear.
