I have a '84 II with the 2.8L 2bbl carb. Ahem, and only 46k miles! :) :) Spent a goddamn long time(almost 3 months) diagnosing the engine down to where it runs now. Bloody Ford experiments and carbs!

c6

Are you changing out the c6 for gas mileage?
Otherwise it's a pretty bulletprood/heavy duty tranny!

just curious..

The truck was originally a 4 speed rig, but the previous owner swapped over to a rebuilt (supposedly) C-6. After the switch the C-6 fried and the guy who was going to re-rebuild it removed the tranny and then disappeared (with the tranny) That's how I got it so cheap.....$300. All I need is to put the tranny back in and put a soft top on it, the original hard top blew off on him on the freeway (another long story). Hope to have it on the road by first part of April so the Centurion can go in for paint and upholstery.

I have a 79 bronco that is basically stock. It has been through everything and still keeps tickin. I've had the valves float quite a few times and still no damage. The body's gone bad enough that we might be getting better gas mileage. In the next couple years I'm doing a full resto. It's got over 300K and has only gotten regular maintenance.

Well, looks like so far I have the only early Bronco here. I bought it from my father-in-law who bought it brand new. Quarters are cut, but besides that all original.
