Which Winch???

I am curious what would be a good, all around use, winch for my truck. Its an 86 fullsize which is stock for now but 35's and 6" of susp are waiting patiently in the the garage for enough time to be installed (and to finish the timing chain). What would be a good size?? Also do the electric winches work under water like the hydraulic ones do?? Which one is better than the other?

Re: Which Winch???

I've always heard Warn winches are #1. I've had a few different brands and I liked my 12,000 Lb. Warn the best of all. (Electric)
I never used a winch underwater, but I had some problems with an off-brand winch that somehow got enough moisture inside the motor to burn it up.
I think if I knew I'd be using my winch underwater, I'd buy a gear drive and add the PTO box and shaft to the truck.
hint:when you get a winch, invest in a good fairlead and a snatchblock as well.

Re: Which Winch???

Warn rules. Get the 9,000 lb version or the 12,000 lb version.
