Question 03 6.0 Excursion Tech ?

I recently had both fuel filters and oil changed. Within days the truck started to rough idle romp w/white smoke mostly at stops or taking my foot off. The service station drained the separator 2x's and also put in a fuel cleaner to treat up to 45gallons. They think I got some bad diesel as I also filled up at the same time they did the service. The exhaust smells different Any ideas on this? Thanks!

It is possible you got bad fuel and that will make it smell and run rough. If the check engine light is not on, then it may be fuel related. If the CEL is on, then get a scan and post the codes here.

Re: 03 6.0 Excursion Tech ?

Thanks Johnny,
I did have a tank of bad fuel. I have had some bad fuel before but this stuff was the worst I have ever purchased and I thought I was safe buying at a more expensive station thinking they were not stocking the bottom of the barrel.

The probably did have descent fuel at the station you went too. I bet that the pumps were recently serviced and the person doing the servicing after replacing the filters at the pump didn't run a few gallons through the pump to clean that crap out. It happened at the service station I ran just on one occasion. It's more prominent with the diesel pumps depending on the area you live in. I sold 45 000gal of gasoline compared to 4 000gals of diesel in a week. My diesel tank only held 7500gal compared to the 10 000gal tanks of petrol. When the tanks got to 2" of product left the pumps would shut off and that is considered empty. I'm not sure about the laws in the US but in CAN you cannot run tanks completely dry due to the sediment at the bottom.

THANKS 360 ci That helps. I have filled up two more times at that station and have had no more problems.
