Hi guys,

hoping for a little help with this one. My dad has a 2000 mercury sable that has sat for awhile, I go to start it (brand new Battery) and nothing happens at all. The dash lights are all on, but I get no response when the key is turned.

I have tried sanding the ground wire and the contacts on the starter and the solenoid, but still have had no luck. What could be the issue here? Could it be the transmission switch that says its in park?

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

It's possible that it's the park neutral switch. Try starting it in neutral. Also, if you have other keys, try another key. The PATS system might be the problem. What is the security light doing?

I actually did try it in neutral, but wasnt sure if that made a difference, but nontheless it did the same thing, I'll try another key thats a good idea, thanks
