Re: 01 taurs lean codes

More than likely you need to replace your o2 sensors. Could be EGR system or fuel pressure regulator.

Is there rough idle? You can also clean your Mass Air.

Re: 01 taurs lean codes

no it idels fine replaced one o2 sensor a few months back thought it was strange how lean codes for both banks were set at same time (kinda eliminates o2 sensors i thought)

Re: 01 taurs lean codes

How many miles? Have the fuel filter been changed?
Does it have a K&N filter? Must be changed every 15k miles.
This is the #1 problem, second to MAF sensor.
Hope this helps..

Re: 01 taurs lean codes

After replacing the plugs in my '05 and cleaning the throttle body, i too am getting lean codes for both banks.

It's running fine, and won't get check enging light for 200-300 miles after resetting the computer. Getting 27-28 mpg combined, and purrs like a kitten EXCEPT when I really lean on it, then she pings just a bit? (110K mi)

Did I possibly screw up the MAF (didn't get spray near it), or should i replace 02 sensors (light on all of a sudden after plug change!?!) or should i chase down a vacuum leak?

If vacuum, where is most common leakage point?

Many thanks

Bob

Re: 01 taurs lean codes

You might want to check for a manifold leak. There is nothing wrong with the 02 sensors
they are doing their job.
