New to the forum, will be using it primarily as a source to ask questions about my mothers car, as well as my girlfriends car which is a 2001 Ford Taurus.

Lately, her Taurus has been having some problems when you first begin to step on the gas, especially when it is cold and especially when the air conditioning/heat is running.

My first initial thought is that the plugs need replaced, which seems to be quite the daunting task. Is there a decent write up on this forum, or somewhere else on the net to view when it comes to swapping the plugs? I've changed spark plugs but never on an engine such as this. Her car is the 24v DOHC motor.

Keep in mind that it's also good to purchase a repair manual for $20 or so as it will offer proper procedure, list torque specs and troubleshooting techniques. Youtube has a lot of people that offer advice that's not always correct. It's just merely their best interpretation of how to do something, and in many cases there are multiple ways.

You don't want to over torque spark plugs into an aluminum head.
