I have a 02 Taurus SEL w/ a 3.0 Duratec. On the back of the top of the engine there is a sensor next to the EGR valve I believe. It has 2 small rubber hoses and a electric connector one of the hoses comes from the exhaust manifold and keeps melting near the bottom and creates a exhaust leak. Can anyone help what is the name of that sensor and will it greatly harm the performance??? Thank you in advance.
This is the DPFE sensor. (Differential Pressure Feedback EGR) Yes, this will cause a performance problem. The hoses going to the DPFE are not regular hoses. They are a high temp. type which have regular black rubber on the outside but a green or orange high temp. layer on the inside. Best to go to the dealer for these hoses.
