05 Taurus slight miss

Hi,
Have an 05 Taurus with 100k on it. I detect a slight miss that causes the rpm's to rise just a little every 10 or 20 seconds. The engine light has not come on yet but I can tell it's just not right. Any ideas????
Thanks much, Doug

Re: 05 Taurus slight miss

100K in 3-4 years wow!

Sounds like the throttle position sensor is on its way out. Does anyone else drive the vehicle? If so, it might be wise to scan for codes just in case whoever drove it within the last 50 starts didn't see the engine light when it came on. I believe for a few years the Taurus' only stored codes up to 30 times after the light went out.

Re: 05 Taurus slight miss

Yup, the wife drives it most of the time and she never saw a gas station she didn't want to stop at! LOL! Actually, she nannys our Grandkids near the Twin Cities which is about 170 miles away. Goes there quite often and they buy the gas.
Will check into running the codes on it. I was thinking ye olde oxygen sensors like most people but they're not cheap so didn't want to start changing stuff without being sure. Thanks much.
