I have a 1993 Mercury Sable LS. It has a little over 58,000 miles on it. Just in the past few weeks, it has stalled two times. Both times I had driven over 50 miles and then turned off the car. When I got back into the car and tried to start it, it would shake and then turn off. The only way I could get the car to stay running would be to give it a little gas, and eventually everything ran smooth with it.

In just the past week, I've noticed that it will idle pretty rough when you first start the car, and sometimes even while driving it (if I stop at a red light or something.) Just today the check engine light came on...

Basically I have no idea why all this is going on. I've been reading about how it could be a bad fuel pump, but we actually just had it replaced about 4 months ago, so I don't believe it is that, but if anyone would give me insight, that would be a great help. Thanks!

There are several things that could do that. Try this test and see what codes you pull from it. Ford Fuel Injection » How To Run a Self-Test. Also, clean the MAF with MAF cleaner and see if that helps.
