1993 Taurus GL 3.0L V6 AXOD transmission question
Ok here's two questions after 280 miles of drive (140 each direction).
before i started my tour i checked all fluids levels so the starting point was all ok.
1. when i reached my destination (which had lots of up hill and mountain climb) i thought maybe i should do a quick checkup of all levels and so i leveled the car, changed to parking and found that the transmission level went all down. couple of inserts of the dipping handle got it out all dry. i then used my special funnel and added one quart (all that i had there) - i then got the dipping handle level a bit under the minimum. i drove a bit back and i saw a 4" puddle on the road and obviously the transmission carter all wet. one thing is for sure - i did not "miss" while filling as my funnel will not allow it. also, looking on the filling neck from above shows a dry neck. the transmission carter was treated a year ago ( filter and gasket). any ideas where this leak may come from ? are there any "known" illness to this transmission or weak spots which tend to leak ?
2. it happen one time on the way to the destination and another back, that the check engine light turned on. on both times turning off the engine and on again cleared it. how do i check which dtc caused it ? should i have the check engine on again in order to put the ecu in self test mode and see what it gives back as dtc or that i can check it even if it is off ?
can anyone recommend an online store that sells both engine and transmission filters/kits suitable for this model ?
thanks for any help!!
