1998 Duratec oil leak,not pan - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I just took on a project car that has a few problems. The first one I am going to tackle is a oil leak. It is not the pan gasket, It drips off the bottom alternator mounting bolt and down onto the front bank converter. It is coming from somewhere higher than I can see. Any history of cam cover gaskets going? Any input is appreciated. Thanks

If the valve cover was not properly replaced it may leak. The gaskets are reusable and should be good for years.

The Duratec also has a two piece block. It may be leaking at the point where the two pieces meet.

the more I study it the more it looks like the front cover. How big a job is this
