1999 ford taurus is loosing power,HELP;;;

we own a 1999 ford taurus with 3,0 motor,been to two shops and still no one has located the problem.has new fuel filter ,and converters seem okay.
the problem comes after motor is good and fully warmed up we will loose power,no missing,and might just quit.After 5 minutes we start it and can drive it,but maybe only 45 miles per hr.runs great when cold up to fully warm.

we were going down highway at 60 last night and after 7-8 miles from home we lost power,and slowly just quit.no check engine light ever comes on.any good ford mechanics out there we need your help.

Did you try changing the dielithium crystals?LMFAO.Sorry,I couldn't resist!I had a simular problem with my ford van and traced it to plug wires.I had that problem with a 28 foot truck also(ford)and the garage couldn't find the problem.they checked the wires first.(it was rented so I left it there and got another truck)Let us know if you find the problem.

This some times happens when the exhaust gets blocked. Maybe your cat converter is the problem?If it is you will hear ratting noise at idle Good luck

Did you check fuel pressure? I have had problems when pumps work ok cold but after awhile will start loosing pressure. I had to drive around with a fuel pressure guage taped to the windshield until I saw the gradual drop in pressure.
