frown 1999 Taurus dies while driving

Two days ago the battery light came on. Then, yesterday the car died on me. First the ABS light came on, then the airbag light, then a good loss of power (like I was running out of gas) when I braked. The power came up again enough to drive a mile or so, but the car died at a stop light. Then all power died, so I had it towed to a shop thinking I needed an alternator, but they couldn't find anything wrong. They cleaned the battery connections, charged it and I was on my way. Lucky for me, the car died again right when I reached my house. What's my car's problem this time?

Clean the batt negative to engine and engine to firewall ground straps. Intermittent power problems are more likely to be ground related. Not saying that's your only problem. But it's the easiest and cheapest to eliminate. Moral: Always try the easiest and least expensive fixes first.
