2000 Ford Taurus SE

I really could use some help on this because I don't want this to cost alot in the long run. Car has stated above in topic , yellow light that is a circle with a yellow exclamation point flashing. I checked the owners manual and it says "check transaxle" am I in trouble or what?

This means there is a problem with the tranny. Until you check the codes stored in the PCM you won't really know what is going on unless the tranny shifts funny. It could just be a bad sensor or it could be worse.

Re: 2000 Ford Taurus SE

error code P0741 torque converter clutch sys stuck off. said the fluid was burnt and smelled funny. I pulled the stick out myself and looked , hopefully the right one , red and to the line and that was after I ran it. said it would cost $275.00 to pull the tranny and diagnose what's wrong inside.

this was from accurate transmission service here in milwaukee, wisconsin

Re: 2000 Ford Taurus SE

Greetings; Wow, what a stroke of luck. I just purchased a 2000 Taurus, SE., From a Ford dealer. With 94,000 miles.

I had taken it on a small test drive, around our "city block" which had a few hills, curves , etc...., but speed under 50 mph.

I brought it home, put a couple things in it, and went for my first drive. (let me say, I traded in a 95 Taurus, with 199,000 Trouble free miles on it)

I went towards the country, and within 5 MINUTES my ( ! ) light was on, flashing big and yellow!!! The speed limit is 55 mph, and I was around 58 or so.

I thought , 55 mph warning light???????, but it did not go off, when I slowed to 40 , or so.

I pulled off, and shut the car off. Restarted and drove off, 58 or so mph.

After 3 Min., the light came on, I pulled off, shut off- restarted. As long as under 45 , it did not come on, but 50- above - on. I noticed some slipping at slow speeds, now in a parking lot.

I pulled out the book, and read "Trans-axle service" BOY was I Hot!!!

I brought the car home, parked it, and the next morning, when the dealer opened, I called the service dept., and my sales guy.

I got it in, ( 24 1/2 hours after I BOUGHT IT) and left it.

The next day, ( Yesterday), they called, and said error code was " Torque converter" Transmission guy, is on Vacation, and will be back Wed.

I am waiting to see what happens-----Not real happy , at this point----what is the chance this "just happened" ???? if you know what I mean!!!

I feel for you, and hope it turns out ok for you, as well as me!!!

Good Luck

My light's been coming on, too. Ford charged me $100 diagnostics and couldn't find the problem. I hate this! I want to go on a 9-hour trip and am afraid to use this car!

Re: 2000 Ford Taurus SE

If Ford charged you $100.00 to diag the light and could not find the problem, then you just got ass raped!

Take it back and get your money back or a proper diagnosis! If that light is on, then a properly trained Ford tech would at least know where to look for the problem with all the equipment Ford techs have available to them! You don't whack someone $100.00 and say "Sorry, but we don't know why that weird light is on cause we have an retarded staff of Ford mechanics"

Re: 2000 Ford Taurus SE

Greetings-

Well, it has been about a week and a half, since I bought my "new car" which has been sitting at the dealership, since 24 hours after I bought it.

The "Trans guy" came back from vacation, and told me "My Tourque converter is bad" !!!!!

But wait, that is not all!!!!!!! They REFUSED TO PAY FOR IT, or GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK !!!!! Keep in mind, this problem " Showed up" about 5 MINUTES after I bought the car!!!!!! ( The guy selling the car, said you dont want the extended warranty , they are too much, for a car with 94000 miles on it) it was sold"as is" .

Now, I can go along with , 2-3 weeks, a month after I bought it, tough luck---- but WITHIN 30 MIN !!!!!!

So, I talked with my sales guy, who, (when I told him of the problem, just after buying it), he said I have a guy I have to go through, to get this taken care of.

Well, he went to his go to guy, and that guy said----NO !!!!

BOY WAS I REALLY HOT, NOW !!!!

I chewed my way, up the dealer ladder, and the USED CAR manager, basically told me to "Pound sand up my ass" !!! " We are NOT RESPONSIBLE, if you leave the lot, and all the tires fall off" !!!!!!!!

I got them to pay for the labor, but they wanted me to buy ALL the parts, About $1000.00, for a car I just bought "5 minutes ago"

I went all the way up, to the President of the company , sat in his office, told him of my families long standing relationship with FORD, and how it would be in the best interest, to "Keep a LOYAL CUSTOMER " happy!!!!---and you would not want the bad Publicity, it would cause if you just Left me out to dry!!!

We came upon a agreement,( which I still think they should have "stepped up to the plate" and covered it), and it appears I will be putting more than $700.00 into my BRAND NEW CAR !!!!

I guess this is really a different day and age, and doing the right thing, is a thing of the past!!!

Stay tunned, for the final chapter!!!!!!

Damn! Sounds like you got screwed big time! What dealer did you buy it from? Most dealers I know of will give you at least a 30 day money back guarantee. Sounds like you need to find a different dealer. And make sure everyone you know is aware of how poor this dealer is!!!! I would also strongly suggest you contact Ford Corporate at 1-800-392-3673 to tell them your situation as well as the better business beuro and make sure this dealer is held acountable for their horrible customer service.
